A new idea

Stout House was a dream of affordable, accessible, and adorable cloth diapers for everyone. We believe that cloth should be available for all, and so we started and surrounded our business with that mindset.

A dream and a basement

When you start something from scratch, you have to use what you have. Dedicated to getting this business off the ground, we put our basement to work. Countless days and nights were spent in this basement creating Stout House and getting to know our incredible family of customers who call Stout House theirs. We still remember our first order, and we are so thankful for everyone who has trusted us over the years.

Growing pains

It didn't take long for us to realize that we were beginning to grow! Stout House was starting to become a trusted name in cloth diapering, and we had no clue what to do with this budding dream. As we squeezed for space in our basement, we knew we'd have to find a new space soon.

Our first move

And a new space we did find! We moved into a 600 square foot office space, and it felt like a mansion in comparison to the corner of our basement. The excitement of the new space really began to legitimize the business- at least in our own hearts and minds. We also finally hired our first official employee to take care of some of the backend and fulfillment so Stout House could continue providing the great service it was known for.

The orders kept coming

As time moved on, so did our orders and ability to manage them. Stout House was becoming a small leader in the industry, and we found ourselves endlessly thankful and more and more clueless on how to handle the growth yet again. Stout House is truly a story of a dream becoming a reality thanks to the community that has surrounded it.

A growing family

As our Stout House family grew, so did our personal family. As our baby turned into a toddler, and then into a full on kiddo, we had the privilege of watching a lot of our customer's babies do the same. We quickly realized that this business meant getting to grow alongside our customers. We get to see and hear from families as they grow out of diapers, have more kiddos, and go through all kinds of early stages in parenthood. And then it hit us- we're not here just to provide diapers. We're here to help families. Our mission became abundantly clear as we began to understand that we are a business for families. And we love that we get to do what we do.

Next Steps

Again, we had to move! Our 600 square ft space became overrun and we moved on to a 1200 square foot space. And as we move on with providing these diapers, our mission is clear- We're here for families on their cloth diapering journey, and we can't wait to see where that leads us and those who use our diapers.
